Freed Haliya Students Enjoying with Computers

Shree Dandabagh Basic School is situated in Surnaya Rural Municipality Ward no. 2, Baitadi where 90% students belong to freed haliya family. The school has been supported with computers under the project supported ELCA/LWF Nepal partnering with RastriyaMuktaHaliyaSamaj Federation Nepal (RMHSFN).  There was not school in the village five years ago so the children of freed haliya were compelled to go to school which is 30 minutes far after crossing the forest area therefore, most of the freed haliya children were deprived from education but now the students are freely using computers for their learning opportunities. Mr. JayramLohar, the chair of school management committee expressed that the school was registered five years ago at District Education Office but we didn’t have any facilities to attract children in school. In this period LWF Nepal/RMHSFN supported to establish school library and construction of toilet. Currently, 82 freed haliya students are studying in school.

Mr. Raju Ram Bhul, Ex-Chairperson of RMHSF Nepal said, “With the small support from the project, freed haliya children have got access to technical education in the school.”
